DonBosco by Paul Claudel
PAUL CLAUDEL (1868-1955) Renowned French poet, playwright and essayist describes encounter with Don Bosco
“Don Bosco!
One had only to see him!
It is the same with his pictures.
One never wearies looking at him.
He seems so understanding.
You know at once that you can have complete confidence in him,
and that all will be well.
No need to invent confession.
When you just looked at him
You felt you had to tell him everything:
Compelled to confess, confident of compassion.
You felt the need to reveal all, to confide in him fully,
and bask in this precious moment when you became a child again.
So intimate was this communion,
that one had to ask oneself if this was not indeed an encounter
with Jesus alive in our midst.”
