FORMATION SESSIONS FOR NEW DIRECTORS (SAFCAM-NAIROBI)

Like every year, SAFCAM (Salesian Formation Centre Africa-Madagascar) organized two formation workshops for new or young community directors from the Africa and Madagascar Region. From January 8 to 15, 2024, the first formation session for new directors took place at the “Don Bosco Youth Educational Services” (DBYES) centre in Nairobi. Nine English-speaking directors participated in the training; they came from three provinces: AFE, ANN and AFM. Then, from January 19 to 26, 2024, the second formation session for new French-speaking directors took place at the same location. For this second session, eleven new directors participated, coming from four provinces: AFC, AGL, ANG and MDG. For seven days, the participants went through the director's manual and other documents of the Congregation, thus reconciling theory and sharing of experiences. All this, under the supervision of Fathers Camiel SWERTVAGHER and Gerald UMOH and with the help of Brother John Ngigi Njuguna and Father Maximus Okoro Chikwem, confreres of “Don Bosco Tech Africa”. The new directors were able to analyse and evaluate their role which is to animate and govern the local community. It was with a truly Salesian spirit that the confreres experienced these moments of formation, the most important aspect of which was sharing. It was with enthusiasm and courage that they returned to their homes after having formulated for themselves some resolutions in order to continue their service of animation and governance.
